Rutgers Scarlet Knights head coach Greg Schiano praised Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola during his press conference on Wednesday. Schiano will face the quarterback for the first time as Rutgers looks to improve their record to 5-0 on the year.
Raiola has been as good as advertised for the Huskers, throwing for 1,224 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is coming off an efficient game against Purdue last Saturday, in which he threw 257 yards and a touchdown.
Now, he will face a tough Scarlet Knights defense that ranks in the middle of the Big Ten with 179.5 passing yards allowed per game.
In the meantime, Rutgers and Schiano know the challenge they are up against. The coach gave the quarterback a strong review.
“The command that he has of their offense is, good for any level, but for a freshman is unheard of. He is a very gifted athlete you know, he’s big, he’s mobile. He can throw on the move, he can throw from the pocket. There’s not much this guy can’t do, but that’s why he was such a highly-recruited quarterback, right? He’s got all the tools.”
Husker fans hope that all those tools will be on display Saturday afternoon. It will be another challenge for the Huskers, who are looking to win their second conference game in a row.
