Rutgers baseball is receiving votes in latest USA TODAY coaches poll

Rutgers baseball was nearly ranked in the latest USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll.

Fresh off a three-game road sweep of Ohio State, Rutgers baseball is on the cusp of a national ranking.

In the most recent USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll, Rutgers received 74 votes. This gives them the most votes of any program not ranked, putting them just outside the poll and essentially ranked No. 26 in the nation.

Last week, they received 34 votes which would have been No. 29 in the poll.

Rutgers is 36-9 (15-3 Big Ten, 21-6 on the road). They are No. 45 nationally in the most recent RPI update and have won five straight games.

No. 17 Maryland is the only Big Ten team that is ranked.

The Scarlet Knights play at Seton Hall on Tuesday afternoon. They will host Maryland this weekend for a three-game series that could well decide the Big Ten regular-season title.
