Russell Wilson, like most Seattle fans, has been very vocal about his desire to see star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in a Seahawks uniform in 2020.
During a Q&A session on his Instagram account, Wilson was asked about Clowney’s free agency and he reiterated his feelings, even calling out Clowney directly.
“Clowney come back,” Wilson said in his response. “If you are listening bro. We’ve got another Super Bowl to win, man. We need you. We need you to come back Clowney. Clowney, Clowney if you can hear me, please come back, bro. I need you homie.”
Wilson originally mentioned Clowney as a player he would love to see return to the squad back in January, when he was clamoring for more superstar talent on the team.
“Jadeveon is a big-time guy that we would love to get back on our football team,” Wilson said. “He was so good in the locker room. He brought so many just havoc plays to the field.”
Clowney is the last remaining domino on the free agent market for edge rushers, and players like Everson Griffen are waiting for him to sign before they make their moves.
The Seahawks have maintained interest in the former first overall pick, although recent additions like Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa lowered the team’s available cap space – which likely means an addition would require another cut to clear room.
Stil – many feel Seattle is Clowney’s most likely destination, thanks in part to their advanced knowledge of his medical situation.
However, it could be a while until he makes his decision, so the wait continues.
