Russell Wilson is the first man up on the 2024 Steelers quarterback carousel

Do you think Russell Wilson will recapture his former glory in Pittsburgh?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have named a starting quarterback to start the 2024 season, and Terrible Towel Country better get ready to ride.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin named quarterback Russell Wilson as the team’s starter for its season opener on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, which makes former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields the backup.

However, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor shared Tomlin’s sentiment that Fields may also get some looks in certain packages in part because of his excellent mobility out of the pocket.

We haven’t a clue how this is going to go for the Steelers this year, as the team will trot out a 35-year-old Wilson who got jettisoned from the Denver Broncos and will now try to resurrect his career in an Arthur Smith offense.

It’s a good thing that Pittsburgh has one of the NFL’s best defenses and a solid run game because it feels like the quarterback carousel might spin around and around like it did for Smith’s former team last year … ironically, the team that Pittsburgh faces to start the 2024 season.
