Russell Westbrook doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him

Russell Westbrook isn’t concerned with what people think about his game.

Russell Westbrook is one of the most eccentric players in the NBA, and he’s always been that way throughout his career.  Ja Morant really respects that — a lot. Westbrook is one of his favorite players and it’s pretty obvious how much of his game has influenced Morant.

Morant told us a bit about that last night after the Grizzlies’ 140-112 loss to Westbrook’s Rockets. When asked about him after the game, the Grizzlies’ rookie said that he feels like Westbrook is “highly disrespected” in the NBA and that “people take his play for granted,” according to ESPN.

Now, Westbrook was asked about Morant’s complimentary comments shortly after. And what you’d THINK would follow is that Westbrook would say something like “Oh, man, yeah. Shoutout to the rookie.”

NOPE. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

In the most Russell Westbrook fashion imaginable, he told us he absolutely does not care about what Morant or anyone else thinks about how he plays —even if they admire him.

“I don’t really care what nobody else thinks about my game…I appreciate guys like [Morant] and other guys, but as long as I’m OK and satisfied with what I bring to the table, I’m going to keep busting everybody’s ass.”

WORD, Russ. Word. That’s how you take a compliment. This dude is nuts — in a good way, though.

The first question I had after reading this was “Fam, why is Russ like this?” But then I realized he is like this because it makes him do this.

And if being that way makes Westbrook do that? For the love of everything good, Russell Westbrook, never change.
