Rumored ‘guarantees’ revealed with Bill Belichick and UNC

Bill Belichick reportedly has guarantees in his pitch to be UNC football head coach.

One of the biggest stories in college football ahead of championship weekend is Bill Belichick interviewing for the North Carolina head coach job. The report from Inside Carolina went viral and there is legit consideration from North Carolina’s side.

With this being a very important hire for the program, they are going to do their due diligence on multiple candidates. However, more details are emerging about the interview and what Belichick wants in his so-called ‘guarantees’. And that includes his own staff and a promise for his son.

Per Ollie Connolly, the guarantees are that Stephen Belichick will be named the school’s head coach in waiting. UNC is open to that guarantee. Discussions are not a bid to gain leverage for NFL offers and BB is open to the move. Connolly also tweeted that Belichick’s staff would include Matt Patricia, Ben McDaniels (Texans passing game coordinator and brother of Josh McDaniels) as well as a sitting college GM who would handle general operations — NIL, recruiting, etc.

That’s a lot of guarantees. However, it does signal that he is serious about this job and has a plan in place already.

The other key thing to note is that eventually he would like to get back to the NFL and at 72 years old, he probably wants to get back there sooner than later.

This is setting up to be an interesting next few weeks in the coaching search for North Carolina.
