A slew of NBA players have been stepping up during the coronavirus crisis and donating money to cover the salaries of vulnerable arena workers who were put out of work when the league suspended operations earlier this week.
We’ve seen names like Zion Williamson, Kevin Love, Giannis Antetokounmpo and others make generous pledges. Now Rudy Gobert, the man who sparked a far more serious response by sports leagues after he tested positive on Wednesday, is joining in.
He was the center of attention last week when he was the first NBA player to test positive for coronavirus. Now, he’ll be in headlines for something different.
The Jazz center is donating $400,000 to support the Jazz’s employee relief fund and coronavirus social services in Utah and Oklahoma City, and €100,000 to support the French health care system, according to a statement from the team.
Rudy Gobert is donating more than $500,000 to support both the employee relief fund at Vivint Smart Home Arena and COVID-related social services relief in Utah, Oklahoma City and within the French health care system.
