The DP World Tour (formerly known as the European Tour) has a big event this week in England that has a number of big-name PGA Tour players playing in it… as well as some LIV Golf players who are able to tee it up because their suspensions are on hold until a hearing in February.
This all makes for an awkward week at Wentworth Club and has led to players like Billy Horschel ripping the LIV Golf players for being selfish hypocrites for coming back to play on a tour that they abandoned for heaps of cash from the Saudi-funded league.
Rory McIlroy spoke with the media on Wednesday and he took a perfect shot at the LIV players when he was asked what it would be like for him if he had to battle it out with one of them on Sunday.
Rory đ.
Q. If come Sunday you find yourself in contention and the man to the side of you is a LIV player, would there be more incentive to win?
RM: I mean, I'll be trying to win a golf tournament regardless. They are going to be pretty tired on Sunday; it will be the fourth day.— Rex Hoggard (@RexHoggardGC) September 7, 2022
LIV Golf, of course, is just three rounds with shotgun starts and no cuts. That was a pretty fun shot taken by Rory.
Twitter agreed.
