Roquan Smith on AFC championship loss to Chiefs: ‘Last year doesn’t matter anymore’

Ravens inside linebacker Roquan Smith made it clear that last season doesn’t matter anymore for the team

The Baltimore Ravens lost an agonizing game to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game to end their season last year. Many thought Baltimore could win it all, but they faltered when it mattered most.

Many around the city, including many Ravens coaches and players, still think about the game. However, inside linebacker Roquan Smith made it clear that last year doesn’t matter anymore, saying it’s about staying hungry.

“Last year doesn’t matter anymore. It’s a new year, new team, but we still have a lot of these dogs on the team, and it’s just about staying hungry. We hunt as a pack, and I think of a safari and things like that, a pack of hyenas, lions whoever it is, [nobody] doesn’t want to run up on those guys. I feel like we have that mindset and guys on all three levels. We play hard, and effort is something we’ll never question and just being relentless everything that we do, and I feel like if we do that, our talent will take care of everything else.”

All Baltimore can do now is move on and look toward the future. Hopefully, for them, there will be a Super Bowl ring at the end of the tunnel this season, but dwelling on the past won’t get them there if they continue to focus on it and neglect what’s in front of them.
