Although the Golden State Warriors got blown out against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, there was a silver lining.
With several key pieces ruled out for the contest like Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole, the Warriors were forced to give their young players a heavy workload against the Raptors.
During their trip to the north, Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga drew his first career start in the NBA.
With an increased role, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft took advantage.
On his way to a career-high performance, Kuminga showed off his wide skillset, including his power, athleticism, attacking ability and jump shot.
Kuminga finished the contest with a team-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field with two assists, two steals and a rebound in 36 minutes. The G League Ignite product was the only member of the Warriors to finish with over 14 points against the Raptors.
Along with flashing his explosiveness while driving to the bucket, Kuminga displayed his range with a smooth jumper from beyond the arc. The 19-year-old took a page from Curry’s book, hitting four triples on six attempts from long distance.
