The Washington Football Team will not be called the “Football Team” much longer, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

In an appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show,” Rivera discussed several topics, including his health, proton therapy, his current team, and Eisen wrapped things up by asking the head coach did he know the new team name.

Here’s Rivera’s response:

“I have an idea,” Rivera said. “I know that there are three finalists and, I know we are getting ready to order everything and when they all of that, we will know for sure.”

Rivera then joked with Eisen his choice: “I like the Golden Retrievers,” Rivera said.

Before wrapping things up, Eisen asked Rivera for a timeline on the new name.

“Very shortly, I know it’s coming,” Rivera answered Eisen.

Team president Jason Wright said over the summer the team was targeting “early 2022” as the time to unveil the new team name.
