Ron Rivera says Antonio Gibson is ‘fine’ and received rest day Thursday

Antonio Gibson did not practice on Thursday, but Rivera said that the rookie RB received a rest day and would be fine for Sunday.

Many eyes turned in Washington when rookie RB Antonio Gibson missed a second-straight practice on Thursday, but coach Ron Rivera cleared the air on Thursday afternoon when declaring that Gibson received a rest day to help in he rehab of a turf toe injury that held him out of a couple of games earlier in the season.

Gibson played vs. the Carolina Panthers in Week 16 and looked good, and all expectations are that he will be good to go in a win-or-go-home game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. With the health of both WR Terry McLaurin and QB Alex Smith in question, it will be huge for Washington to have their dynamic young running back good to go.
