After news broke that 15 female employees who formerly worked in Washington had come out and accused several staff members for alleged sexual and verbal abuse, Washington coach Ron Rivera made an official statement on the matter, via ESPN’s John Keim.
In his statement, Rivera said that it was important to more forward from here and understand that policies are being followed to this type of thing doesn’t happen anymore. He also noted that his own daughter is now an employee with the Washington organization, so he will “sure as hell” not allow any of this going forward.
The original report from The Washington Post accused several staffers of making inappropriate remarks to female employees, often complimenting them and suggesting that they wear less clothing. Among the more notorious alleged offenders were radio announcer Larry Michael, as well as personnel employees Alex Santos and Richard Mann II. Michael abruptly announced his retirement on Wednesday, before the story came out, and both Santos and Mann were fired last weekend.
