Romeo Langford suffers injury, will not play Sunday for the Red Claws

Boston Celtics rookie Romeo Langford suffered an ankle injury Friday night on assignment with the Maine Red Claws in the G League and will not play on Sunday afternoon.

The first-round pick rolled his right ankle after playing just seven minutes on Friday against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and did not return to the contest. Langford said afterward it was a “little” sprain and did not provide an update for his status on Sunday.

Langford has battled through a variety of injuries since joining the Celtics. Of course, he did not play in Summer League after recovering from thumb surgery and he also suffered a knee sprain during the preseason that limited him.

After suffering the injury on Friday night, the organization likely wanted to be cautious with Langford as the Red Claws return to play on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. In his G League debut, Langford recorded 27 points, six blocks and five rebounds.
