Roll Tide Wire Player of the Game: Eli Ricks

Roll Tide Wire’s player of the game from Week 8 is defensive back Eli Ricks.

Alabama came out firing on both sides of the ball in its Week 8 matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Several players stood out for their stellar performances, but one, in particular, stood out the most. That player was cornerback Eli Ricks.

It was Ricks’ first start in an Alabama uniform after transferring to the Tide this past offseason from LSU. Although Ricks recorded just two tackles, he made several plays on the back end to prevent the Bulldogs from gaining yardage.

The Tide held the Bulldogs to six points. Ricks’ presence across from Kool-Aid McKinstry was evident in Week 8 and could continue in the weeks to come. This was a very good showing for the junior, especially in his first game with meaningful playing time.
