Last week, two-time Super Bowl champion Rod Smith joined Phil Milani of DenverBroncos.com to talk about wide receiver KJ Hamler, who was selected by the Broncos in the second round of April’s draft.
Smith, like all of us, is impressed by Hamler’s speed.
“I don’t know what he runs the 40 in, but I can tell you it’s extremely fast,” Smith said, via Keith Cummings of Mile High Huddle. “So, those guys are game-changers in the NFL just now, that smaller receiver in the slot. I was like, ‘Man, we’ve got one.'”
Smith, Denver’s all-time leading receiver, believes Hamler will be an explosive player in the Broncos’ offense.
“His stride is perfect, man,” Smith said. “He has the perfect stride for running routes. Getting in and out of cuts, he’s got that wiggle.”
In two seasons at Penn State, Hamler caught 98 passes for 1,658 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also returned 44 kickoffs for 1,036 yards. Hamler is expected to be Denver’s No. 3 wide receiver behind Pro Bowler Courtland Sutton and first-round pick Jerry Jeudy.
