Even though he only recently turned 20 years old, Houston Rockets rookie Jalen Green can already afford things that most peers of his young age cannot — owing to the $40-million-plus contract he signed after being drafted No. 2 overall in the NBA’s 2021 first round.
On the basketball court, Green has quickly proven worthy of that type of investment, as evidenced by the historic 30+ point scoring streak that he went on near the conclusion of his first season in Houston.
But off the court, Green clearly hasn’t forgotten all his years without that type of guaranteed money. As evidence, Green bought his mom a new car for Mother’s Day as a thank you for her help over the years.
In a social media post published Sunday, Green wrote:
My mom always went the extra mile, driving me to and from basketball practice and tournaments, sometimes sleeping in the car while I played. I wanted to thank her, so @vroom stepped in with the assist and found the perfect gift — a Mercedes-Benz GLE. They delivered the car straight to us just in time for #MothersDay brunch.
The full video of Green handing over the car is available below.
