Rockets recall Porter, Martin from NBA G League assignment

The Rockets on Saturday recalled Kevin Porter Jr. and KJ Martin from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA G League.

With the NBA G League regular season wrapped up, the Houston Rockets on Saturday recalled Kevin Porter Jr. and KJ Martin from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the team announced.

Porter led all G League players in scoring after averaging 24.1 points, 7.2 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 15 games this season with the Vipers. He was previously named the G League Player of the Week and also became the first player this season to record a triple-double.

Meanwhile, Martin averaged 17.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.8 assists in 10 games. He missed time with a sprained ankle, but still managed to rank sixth in rebounding among all players.

With the Rockets recalling Porter and Martin, the two teams are expected to begin the second half of the season with the team following the All-Star break. Porter has yet to debut with the Rockets after the Cleveland Cavaliers traded him to Houston in January.

The Rockets will be hoping Porter and Martin can inject some energy into the lineup after losing 13 consecutive games to finish the first half of the season.
