Reserve guard Eric Gordon is likely to make his return to the Houston Rockets during Saturday’s nationally televised game in Boston.
Gordon sat out Wednesday’s home win over Memphis with a bruised right knee, which he suffered on Monday. Though it’s the same knee that Gordon had surgery on in November, Gordon said his latest ailment was nothing more than a routine bump with Knicks guard Damyean Dotson.
In comments to the Houston Chronicle‘s Jonathan Feigen, Gordon said:
It got worse later on. I anticipate being able to play [on Saturday]. It should be fine. This is something minor. I just didn’t want to prolong it.

For the 2019-20 season, the 31-year-old Gordon is averaging 15.2 points in 29.2 minutes per game. However, the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year has missed 28 of Houston’s 58 games this season due to various injuries.
With consecutive off days on Thursday and Friday, the relative break in the team’s schedule could get Gordon several days of rest while only having to actually miss one game.
Tip-off from TD Garden is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Central on Saturday, with the game televised on a national ABC broadcast.

In the West versus East clash of title contenders, the Rockets (38-20) enter having won five straight games and eight of their last 10, while the Celtics (41-17) have been victorious in 11 of their past 13 games. One of Boston’s only two losses in that stretch was at Houston on Feb. 11.
