Houston Rockets guard KJ Martin has hauled in at least 10 rebounds in each of his five games on assignment with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and the rookie on Tuesday set a new season-high for any player in the NBA G League.
Martin, who was the 52nd overall pick, produced 23 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot during a 99-96 loss to the Lakeland Magic. The performance marked his fourth straight double-double, and his 19 rebounds were the most by a player in the G League this season.
Since scoring eight points in his debut on Feb. 10, Martin is averaging 22 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. He is also one of 11 players to record at least 30 points in a game, which he accomplished on Feb. 13 versus the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

The Rockets initially assigned Martin to the Vipers to log consistent playing time. However, with Houston dealing with several injuries, head coach Stephen Silas hinted recently that Martin could re-join the team sooner than expected.
Regardless of how much longer Martin has with the Vipers, it is certainly evident that he will be one of the best players on the floor given his athleticism and overall skillset.
