Earlier Sunday, staff members with the Houston Rockets distributed complimentary Easter meals to frontline workers at Memorial Hermann hospitals at the Greater Heights and Katy locations.
“It’s just our way of saying thank you, we appreciate what you’re doing, and we want you to find some way to enjoy this Easter Sunday,” said Sarah Joseph, community relations director for the Rockets.
The meals were prepared and donated by two of Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta’s local establishments, The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston and La Griglia restaurant.
“Our staff has been coming to work every day taking care of our patients,” said Ann Szapor, vice president and chief nursing officer at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights. “We’re so proud of them.”
“Houston has been amazing to us,” Szapor added. “They’ve been donating food every week to our staff, and I wanted to say a special thank you today to the Rockets and to the Tilman Fertitta family.”
Like most locations in the United States, the Houston region remains under a “stay home” order amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic — aimed at not overwhelming the area’s health-care infrastructure.
