Rookie Cam Whitmore has been on a tear in the G League, and the Houston Rockets rookie continued that run on Tuesday, leading the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to a win over the Texas Legends.

Whitmore produced 33 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals and one blocked shot in the 124-120 victory. He went 12-of-22 from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, in nearly 36 minutes of work as a starter.

The 20th pick produced 21 points in the first half and became one of 19 players with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game this season. He had several strong finishes at the rim, including a poster dunk and staredown on Teafale Lenard Jr. in the second quarter.

The performance by Whitmore came three nights after dropping a career-high 42 points and seven rebounds in a win over the Birmingham Squadron. His 42 points were the second-most in a G League game this season; he is the fourth player to score at least 40 points in league this season.

He leads the G League in scoring, averaging 26.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, three assists and 1.9 steals in 10 games on 42.6% shooting from 3-point range with the Vipers. He is seventh in field goals (97) and sixth in total 3-pointers (43) among all players.

The 19-year-old has been out of the rotation with the Rockets to start the season, logging 32 minutes across five appearances. He has had some nice moments with the Vipers and seems to be adjusting well to the increased competition.
