Jermaine Johnson was positive, but the news was not.
During the New York Jets’ 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, the former first-round pick was carted off the field. Never a good sign.
The update from Robert Saleh was more of the same. The head coach was asked what was feared: Did Johnson tear his Achilles?
“It’s unfortunately looking like that,” the head coach said via video conference. “It’s not looking good.”
Saleh went on to note that the team would update the injury in the coming days following further examination.
While Saleh sounded pretty confident about the issue, Johnson was being positive and hoping for the best in the Jets (1-1) locker room following the win over the Titans (0-2).
“I’m hoping for the best. We’ve still got to clarify to be sure,” Johnson said. “It wasn’t fun.”
An emotional but upbeat Johnson can be found in the Sportsnet New York clip below:
“I always pray to God before every game. I tell him to use me so I can serve others. This just might be His way of me doing that.”
