Rob Havenstein is the longest-tenured offensive lineman on the Los Angeles Rams and the franchise is going to reward him for his consistent play. Ahead of Thursday’s season opener versus the Buffalo Bills, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the Rams are nearing an extension with Havenstein.

Back in 2018, Havenstein signed a four-year, $32.5 million contract with the Rams. The veteran out of Wisconsin is currently ninth among right tackles in average annual salary, but he could move up that list with his new extension.
Since the Rams took Havenstein in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft, he’s been a stalwart on the right side of the offensive line, starting in 13-plus games in all but one of his first seven seasons. Havenstein remains one of the only members of the Rams from when the team was still located in St. Louis.
Following the retirement of Andrew Whitworth this offseason, Havenstein was voted a team captain for the first time in his career. Besides being viewed as a leader in the locker room, the Rams believe the 30-year-old right tackle deserves a new contract entering the 2022 season.
