Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady are in the process of doing exactly what they set out to do with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: win a Super Bowl. After they defeated the Green Bay Packers in the NFC title game, Gronk and Brady savored the moment in the locker room.
“We just gave each other a big hug and said, ‘This is what it’s all about. This why we came down here. This is a dream,’” Gronkowski said when asked how the two celebrated. “All the work we put in, we knew we had to put a lot of work in, and just coming to an organization that was ready for success. A lot of great players on this team, a lot of great coaches.
“So we gave each other a big hug and said, ‘Man, we’re doing it. We’re doing it big. And it’s for real. We’re going to the Super Bowl. We came down to here Tampa, man. Let’s finish it off. We have two more weeks to keep working, let’s keep going and let’s finish it off.”
Brady will appear in his 10th Super Bowl with his second team. In his first year in the NFC, he won the conference title. And, of course, in 19 seasons with the Patriots, he won the AFC title game nine times. Gronk, meanwhile, won three Super Bowls in New England, with a chance to win a fourth against the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 7.
Gronk finished the 2020 season with 45 catches, 623 yards and seven touchdowns. Brady completed 65.7% of his passes for 4,633 passing yards 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
