Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski ended his year-long retirement this offseason to join Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. And now, he’s back in the Super Bowl.
That meant Gronk had put an end to the day-to-day activities of a retired Gronk and return to the world of responsibilities and workouts. But Gronkowski apparently still managed to find a way to get out of the virtual offseason workouts from time to time.
During Monday’s media video conferences ahead of Super Bowl LV, Gronkowski revealed how he got out of running sprints. He told reporters that the Bucs required him to film his workouts and send the tape in. So, instead of running sprints on multiple days, he’d just run in different shirts and send separate videos in to the team.
During virtual offseason workouts, Gronk had to run sprints, record them and send them to the Bucs. So, to get out of it, he'd record himself running sprints in different shirts on the same day. Then, he'd send in the videos on different days.

Back in May, Gronk had to record himself running sprints and working out to prove to the Bucs he was getting in shape.
Gronk said instead he changed shirts between sprints one day to make them look like different workouts and sent videos in over multiple days.
Meathead genius.

Honestly, that’s a great idea.
Of course, he was still doing the work — condensed into one day rather than several. But hey, it freed up the rest of his schedule, and it must have worked because Bruce Arians was particularly impressed with Gronk’s work ethic.
Bruce Arians on Zoom video conference asked about Tom Brady/Rob Gronkowski's leadership: "I didn't know about Gronk's work ethic. It's unbelievable."
