Rob Gronkowski explains how his weight has changed in and out of retirement

Gronk dropped to the lowest weight he’s been since he was 17.

During retirement, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski was lighter than he’d been since he was a teenager. When he hit his senior year in high school, Gronkowski was 260 pounds or heavier. But in the year he spent away from the NFL, Gronk dropped all the way to 240 pounds.

It sounds like the weight loss was liberating for the hulking athlete. He explained he felt like the decreased weight helped relieve his joints. But nowadays, he’s getting bigger to prepare for the 2020 NFL season and is up to 257 pounds. The Patriots traded Gronkowski to the Buccaneers in exchange for a draft pick, and he’ll reunite with quarterback Tom Brady.

It sounds like Gronk is revved up for another NFL season.
