Rivals’ recruiting experts Mike Farrell and Adam Gorney broke down OU’s 2021 recruiting class on wednesday, aiming to answer the question: could the Sooners have a historic class?
Both experts answered yes. Farrell lists offensive linemen Bryce Foster and Tristan Leigh as well as running back Camar Wheaton as three different five-star prospects “leaning heavily to Oklahoma.”
With five-star quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Mario Williams already committed, Farrell projects the possibility of a top three finish for OU in 2021.
“If the Sooners reel in five different five-star players and some other four-stars this class could finish in the top two or three, and would go down as their best class eve,” he said.
Gorney agrees, setting the bar at OU’s 2019 class, which set a program record with four different five-star signees. He also projects OU having a strong shot at five-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
“Oklahoma might not stop at five,” he said. “It’s going to be a phenomenal class and the Sooners have tremendous momentum heading into the fall especially after the recent summit.”
Indeed, the Sooner Summit was a great success, and it may very well go a long way to make this class the best in school history.
In other news, Rivals recently updated its top-250 prospect rankings for class of 2021. A number of OU commits and targets now have new ranks, or have now entered the top-250.
