NEWBURGH — Former University of Tennessee golfer Rick Lamb had a rough first round at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship Thursday. He finished the opening round with a 5-over 77.
The tournament is being played in Lamb’s home state of Indiana, but that did not seem to help his plight. His tee time for Friday’s second round is 2:03 p.m.
Lamb, a native of South Bend, Indiana, began his collegiate career at Santa Clara University before transferring to play for the Volunteers.
He played high school golf at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
While Lamb struggled Thursday, Knoxville product Wes Roach had a share of the lead after the first round.
Roach, who played his high school golf for Webb School of Knoxville, finished the opening round at minus-8 and is tied with Davie van der Walt after both fired a 64.
After high school, Roach played at Duke.
