ONE Warrior Series will feature six live events in 2020, all of them scheduled to take place in Singapore.
ONE Championship officials recently announced that the developmental series will host events next year on Feb. 20, April 16, June 11, Aug. 6, Oct. 1 and Nov. 26, all of which will take place in Singapore.
The Warrior Series is designed to identify talent from across Asia that is ready to compete at the next level, while introducing those athletes to a global audience, as well.
“We have had nearly a dozen athletes climb through the ranks of ONE Warrior Series, earning contracts with ONE Championship,” ONE Warrior Series CEO Rich Franklin stated. “With these six events on our schedule, next year we will be traveling and recruiting heavily to fill our roster, and I am excited to see who rises to the top next. Stamp Fairtex is the first world champion of many I expect to launch their careers in ONE Warrior Series.”
Fairtex made her MMA debut in a 2018 Warrior Series event and now holds ONE titles in both kickboxing and muay Thai, though she hopes to add an MMA belt to that collection, as well.
ONE plans on returning to Fairtex’s native nation of Thailand, while also scouting in regions such as Japan, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa, as well.
“As athletes graduate through our program and earn their contracts with ONE Championship, more prospects from all over the world are looking to follow in their footsteps,” ONE Warrior Series director Jonathon Fong stated. “2020 will be an exciting year for us as we aim to have more countries represented on our roster, while we continue to expand recruiting beyond our core markets in Asia.”
