Leading into the 2022 NBA draft, there were rumors that the Chicago Bulls were shopping former UNC basketball guard Coby White. No deal was done and White remains on the team’s roster and is working out with his teammates this Summer.
But will those rumors pop up again?
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, White was on the trade block all season long and is expected to be on it again this year. He could potentially be moved at the deadline depending on what happens to start this upcoming season.
Here’s what Cowley wrote in his piece about the rumors as the Bulls turned down a few “underwhelming” packages:
Basically on the outside looking in. He has been on the trade block for the last year, but Karnisovas & Co. did not like the offers and weren’t just looking to give him away. But they also have no intention of extending him this fall when White’s rookie deal starts winding down.
Instead, the Bulls seem poised to keep White for depth purposes, revisit his trade value at the deadline if the backcourt is healthy, and if he is a Bull come next summer, simply let the market set a price on him and decide if the restricted free agent would be worth matching.
Cowley also notes how White has been working extra hard to fix his game and the team gave up an idea of what he needs to fix.
It’s safe to say this is going to be a very important year four for White in Chicago.
