The Denver Broncos were frequently linked to Deshaun Watson earlier this offseason after the quarterback asked for a trade from the Houston Texans. The Broncos were believed to be interested in Watson, but that was before 22 women filed a lawsuit against the QB alleging sexual assault.
Watson’s ongoing legal matter and his uncertain future in the NFL has undoubtedly hurt his trade market. There is still one team interested in his services, though, as reports emerged Wednesday evening that the Miami Dolphins are having “serious negotiations” with Houston about Watson.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle even reported “a deal could go down this week” between the Texans and Miami (via Dolphins Wire).
That reports seems to suggest that Watson could likely land in Miami, with the Broncos seemingly no longer interested in the quarterback.
Denver appears content to stick with Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock at QB, at least for the 2021 season. Next year, the Broncos might revisit the QB trade market (especially if Aaron Rodgers becomes available).
For now, though, there’s no new QB developments in Denver. But the Dolphins might soon have a new QB, if the reports are to be believed.
