Former Jacksonville Jaguars safety Donovin Darius, unfortunately, found himself in trouble with the law Sunday afternoon. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Darius was arrested for driving under the influence and was admitted into the Duval County Jail approximately around 2:45 p.m.

Per Mike DiRocco of ESPN, Darius ingested “numerous pills” before the arrest, which resulted in him having to be taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. DiRocco added that Darius had slurred speech and wasn’t able to stand on his own, according to his source.

Emily Bloch of the Florida Times-Union later added to the report after obtaining the police report, which stated Darius ingested “20 to 30 Trazadone pills” specifically.

Darius was absentee booked into the Duval County Jail and charged with a misdemeanor DUI specifically.

Darius was the Jags’ first-round selection (No. 25 overall) of the 1998 draft. He was able to total 631 career tackles and 14 interceptions before retiring in 2011.
