Report: Yannick Ngakoue absent from OTAs, expected to join team soon

Yannick Ngakoue absent from OTAs, expected to join Colts soon.

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Yannick Ngakoue was absent from Wednesday’s practice session at OTAs as he reportedly follows his own workout plan.

According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Ngakoue is expected to join the team soon for their workouts in Indianapolis, and the team isn’t worried about his absence from the voluntary sessions.

The other notable absence was new pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue, who, according to a source, is following his own offseason workout routine and will be in Indianapolis soon. The Colts are confident with Ngakoue’s familiarity with coordinator Gus Bradley’s scheme and don’t expect his absence to be an issue.

The Colts traded cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to the Las Vegas Raiders in order to bring Ngakoue to Indy. The former third-round pick has plenty of experience working within Bradley’s scheme, having played under him during his rookie season in 2016 and again with the Raiders in 2021.

The Colts are hoping that Ngakoue can be the key edge rusher they’ve been missing to help the development of second-year player Kwity Paye while taking some of the pressure off of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

We may not see Ngakoue until mandatory minicamp in June, but the Colts do expect him to show up at some point during the offseason workouts.
