Report: Wisconsin makes significant changes within recruiting department

Wisconsin football has made corresponding moves within its recruiting department after recently promoting star player personnel director Max Stienecker to general manager.

Those moves included the hire of Alabama recruiting specialist Brandon Rose as an assistant director of player personnel, the promotion of former Badgers outside linebacker Izayah Green-May to assistant director of player personnel, and the promotion of personnel assistant Jared Thompson to college scouting coordinator, all according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Wisconsin shakes up its recruiting department after the significant promotion of Stienecker, who is now the youngest general manager in the Power 4 at only 24 years of age. It also does so as the 2025 recruiting cycle grinds to a halt with the 2024 season now nearly one month away.

Rose, Green-May and Thompson will all work directly under Wisconsin director of recruiting Pat Lambert in a recruiting department that has already produced program-best results during the 2024 and 2025 cycles.

Rose makes the move to Wisconsin after working at Alabama since 2021 — nearly the entirety of that time under legendary head coach Nick Saban. He helped the Crimson Tide register the No. 2 overall class during the 2022 cycle, No. 1 in 2023, No. 2 in 2024 and No. 2 in 2025.

Green-May and Thompson, on the other hand, are internal promotions within the Badgers’ recruiting department. Green-May returned to work for the program after finishing his playing career at Northern Illinois, while Thompson has worked for the program since 2020.

They all will look to improve Wisconsin’s class of 2025 from its current standing at No. 22 in the nation.
