After a ton of speculation surrounding the opening at defensive coordinator in Green Bay, Wisconsin’s DC Jim Leonhard has decided to stay with the Badgers after being offered the job.
Tom Oates of the Wisconsin State Journal reported the news this morning:
#Badgers DC Jim Leonhard on turning down #Packers’ job offer: “It was me choosing UW. I want to stay at UW. I want to be at this level right now. Extremely flattered. Awesome opportunity. But it was not the right time for me to go back to the NFL.”

Leonhard was reportedly offered the job as Green Bay’s top candidate, but the Badger alum who also played a decade at safety in the NFL decided Madison was home.
With Wisconsin’s top-ranked class in the modern recruiting era coming in and a tradition built under Leonhard of a dominant 3-4 defense, the Badgers are set up for success with one of the best coordinators in football at any level.
