Report: Washington never considered changing Burgundy & Gold color scheme

A new placeholder name was introduced in Washington on Thursday, but it was made clear that the colors were never up for debate.

After it was announced on Thursday afternoon that the Washington Football Team would be called the Washington Football Team for the duration of the 2020 NFL season, some interesting notes about the name change came about.

While no contenders for a new name ever really came close to being implemented in the past couple of weeks since the announcement was made, it became clear on Thursday evening that something that was hardly ever up for debate was the team colors in Washington — those won’t be changing. With the burgundy & gold standing as a coveted piece of history, holding three Super Bowl championships in its possession, it was made known that a new team name and logo won’t mean everything will change in Washington.

The impending decision on a new name and logo will likely take several months, if not more than a year. However, once that’s put into place, it won’t be hard to mock up what the new look will be. Redwolves, Redtails, Warriors, or Sentinels; the burgundy & gold will remain prominent in Washington.
