With the start of training camp on the horizon, the Golden State Warriors are making final touches to their roster. With Dwight Howard’s signing reportedly unlikely, the Warriors are adding a different veteran before camp.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors are signing veteran guard Rodney McGruder. The former Detroit Pistons guard will compete for a roster spot during camp, per Charania.

Since coming out of Kansas State in 2016, McGruder has played for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Pistons. The 31-year-old wing played three seasons in Detroit before becoming a free agent this summer. Last year, McGruder averaged 5.7 points on 54.3% shooting from the field and 42.3% from the field in 32 games.
