As the Golden State Warriors prepare for the 2020-21 season and the beginning of free agency, on Friday, the team what the decision to waive reserve guard Ky Bowman.
Bowman, who started 12 games for the injury-plagued Warriors last season, went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft and averaged 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 45 appearances with the Warriors during the 2019-20 season.
As the Warriors continue to react to the unfortunate Achilles injury suffered by Klay Thompson, the team has acquired Kelly Oubre, Jr. to presumably play the lion’s share of rotation minutes available in Thompson’s absence. Oubre’s presence, plus the presumptive return of Stephen Curry to the lineup, would have created a minute-crunch for Bowman.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania was the first to report the news. Charania opines that Bowman has interest around the NBA, so it is likely he finds another home.
