Report: Vikings WR Adam Thielen not expected to play in game vs. Panthers

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen is reportedly not expected to play vs. the Panthers.

Vikings wideout Adam Thielen was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week. Now, it seems doubtful that he will be activated in time for the game, according to a report.

As reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Thielen is not expected to play Sunday against the Panthers. He remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list at the time this article was published and barring a change, he is bracing to sit, per Fowler.

Thielen’s absence leaves Kirk Cousins without one of his favorite red zone targets this year. Thielen has an NFL-leading 11 touchdown receptions already. The Vikings will presumably have to rely on Justin Jefferson more often if Thielen cannot play.

Also, expect players like wide receiver Bisi Johnson and tight end Kyle Rudolph to be more involved in the passing game. In Rudolph’s case, he might really need to step up, considering fellow Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. is listed as doubtful for the game at the moment.
