According to multiple reports, the Minnesota Vikings are trying to get wide receiver Justin Jefferson extended before the start of the regular season.
This shouldn’t come as any surprise. Jefferson is the best wide receiver and non-quarterback in the National Football League and was a dominant force for the Vikings in 2022.
In his Offensive Player of the Year campaign, Jefferson caught a team-record 128 passes for 1,809 yards and seven touchdowns. He took defenses to school week after week and dominated across the board.
The task of signing Jefferson to an extension is a tough ask. The wide receiver market is getting close to $30 million per season and having already been a dominant player, Jefferson is set to set the market for the position.
What could that look like? Back in November, I wrote about a potential extension and what it could look like based on previous extensions and came up with a prediciton of three years, $96 million.
There are a lot of different routes Jefferson can take with what he wants in an extension, but will they coincide with what the Vikings also want? We will soon find out.
