Report: Vikings are ‘one to watch’ for Northwestern OL Rashawn Slater

Do you want the Minnesota Vikings to trade up and land Northwestern draft prospect Rashawn Slater in the 2021 NFL draft?

Minnesota has some glaring weaknesses in the trenches.

With LT Riley Reiff and DE Ifeadi Odenigbo departing, the Vikings could fill those starting positions on both lines in the NFL draft.

If Minnesota opts to do so, trading up to land Rashawn Slater would be a decent choice. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano wrote an article that featured last-minute draft nuggets and they tabbed the Vikings as one to watch for Slater.

Slater has versatility — with the ability to play both guard and tackle. That could really help Minnesota, especially if the team still doesn’t know where OL Ezra Cleveland is playing on the offensive line next season.

However, the Vikings being in on Slater would likely require a trade up, assuming he doesn’t slip considerably. An offensive line prospect of Slater’s caliber could be worth the extra draft capital. We’ll see if the Vikings think so.
