Report: Two teams have made offers for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor

Two teams reportedly have made offers for Jonathan Taylor.

As the saga surrounding Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor progresses, it appears there is some real trade interest for the 24-year-old former rushing champion.

According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, as many as six teams have expressed interest in a potential trade while two teams have made offers to the Colts. The Miami Dolphins are among those teams.

Six teams have inquired about Taylor’s availability, and two of them have engaged the Colts with offers, including the Miami Dolphins, a source told ESPN on Wednesday.

When the Colts granted Taylor and his team permission seek a trade, the Dolphins immediately were the first team reportedly showing interest. Whether they can pull off a deal remains to be seen, but the interest is real.

Teams trading for Taylor will have to pay up. The Colts are seeking a first-round pick or a package similar in value. On top of that, it’s likely the team acquiring Taylor will have to sign him to an extension or make some sort of deal to increase his guaranteed salary for 2023.

The Colts have given Taylor a soft deadline of Tuesday, Aug. 29, to find a suitable trade partner so we’ll see if this grows any legs over the weekend.
