After an impressive debut in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis will reportedly get the nod as the starter once again in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Levis is expected to get the start on Thursday night as Ryan Tannehill continues to recover from a high-ankle sprain.
That would seem like the obvious approach after what we saw in Week 8, even if Tannehill was healthy enough to play, but DO NOT rule out head coach Mike Vrabel doing something wacky like going back to Tannehill when he’s ready.
After all, this is the same head coach who was about to alternate quarterbacks in an NFL game and Vrabes can be fiercely loyal to his players, especially veterans.
#Titans quarterback Will Levis – coming off a four-touchdown debut – is expected to start Thursday night vs. the #Steelers, per source. Ryan Tannehill is still recovering from a high ankle sprain and likely needs more time. Barring surprise, Levis will get start No. 2. pic.twitter.com/Q7bdFk2jXL

At the very least, this shows Levis has officially jumped Willis on the depth chart. The only thing that’s left to find out for sure is if the Kentucky product has jumped Tannehill, also. That won’t be official until the veteran is cleared to play, which could be as soon as next week.
The Titans should fully hand the keys to Levis and work as hard as they can to trade Tannehill at the Oct. 31 deadline, although his ankle injury will make that more difficult. If he stays, Tannehill should become the backup to Levis.
