It appears Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans will reach an agreement on a contract extension before Wednesday’s deadline after all.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Henry and the Titans are finalizing a deal before the 4 p.m. ET deadline, although we don’t know the exact details of the deal just yet.

There was a lot of pessimism about the two sides reaching an agreement, as Schefter also reported on Tuesday that a deal was unlikely; however clearly Henry and the Titans were able to get something done in the final hours.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier that the Titans were offering Henry a deal in the ballpark of two franchise tags, which would be roughly $22.6 million over two years. It hasn’t been confirmed if that’s the offer Henry and the Titans have agreed to, though.
Henry is well worth the investment, as he led the NFL in rushing in 2019 and then carried the Titans through the first two round of the playoffs en route to the AFC Championship Game.
He’s also the heart and soul of the Titans’ offense, as everything they do runs through him — and now it looks like Henry will get rewarded for how important he truly is to Tennessee.
