Report: Texans to interview Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen for coaching job

The Houston Texans have requested an interview with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.

Part of the Houston Texans’ strategy in the 2010s was to emulate the New England Patriots, which is why they acquired many of their former coaches and players to be a part of the organization.

Houston is taking the same strategy when it comes to imitating the current best team in the NFL with their coaching search.

According to Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated, the Texans have plans to conduct virtual interview with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen on Friday. The Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts are similarly interested and will interview Steichen on Saturday.

Houston has already shown interest in Steichen’s fellow assistant, defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

The Eagles finished the season as the NFL’s second-ranked offense and second-ranked scoring offense. Philadelphia posted the best record in the NFL at 14-3, and are currently on a bye.

Steichen has been the Eagles’ offensive coordinator since 2021 when the club hired Nick Sirianni as its coach.
