The Houston Texans will keep David Culley around for five years at least.
According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Texans are signing the former Baltimore Ravens receivers coach and assistant head coach to a five-year contract, which will keep him through the 2025 season. Culley will also be 70 years old by the time the contract expires.
With the signing of Culley, it means interim coach Romeo Crennel is relieved of his duties. The 73-year-old’s contract with the Texans runs out in February.
Culley has a challenge on his hands right out of the gate with quarterback Deshaun Watson requesting a trade from the Texans. If Culley can’t find a way to keep Watson on-board, he will have to evaluate Houston’s options at quarterback.
