Report: Texans interviewing Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon for second time

The Houston Texans have brought in Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon for a second interview.

The Houston Texans are conducting a second interview with one of their coaching candidates.

According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the Texans are bringing in Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon for a second interview.

The interview comes a day after the Texans brought in former quarterback Josh McCown for a second interview.

The Texans fired coach David Culley on Jan. 13, four days after the conclusion of the regular season wherein Houston finished 4-13.

What McCown and Gannon have in common with Culley is both would be first-year coaches when they took the Texans job. McCown would be even more of a greenhorn compared to Culley as the latter had 27 years of assistant coaching experience whereas McCown has been out of football entirely since retiring at the end of the 2020 season.

Where Gannon differentiates himself if he has actually been a coordinator, albeit for only a season. Nevertheless it is more coordinator experience than their previous coach had.
