The Tennessee Titans reportedly requested an interview with Houston Texans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly for the same position, but were blocked from doing so.
The report comes from MMQB’s Albert Breer, who says both the Titans and Detroit Lions made requests to interview Kelly before being denied. That obviously means the Texans plan on holding onto Kelly even though the team is transitioning to a new head coach.
That certainly would have been an interesting hire for the Titans, as not only would they be taking the offensive coordinator of their division rival, but Kelly is also the brother of Tennessee right tackle, Dennis Kelly.
Texans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly was requested for OC interviews by both the Lions and Titans—and Houston blocked Kelly on both, per sources. Interesting sidelight to Texans' coaching search.
Some under the impression Houston's keeping Kelly in deference to Deshaun Watson.

With this news, along with the report that the Titans are set to interview Los Angeles Chargers QBs coach Pep Hamilton, it’s clear Tennessee’s offensive coordinator search is well underway.
However, news has been sparse about who the Titans are interested in, as the news about Hamilton and Kelly are the only nuggets we’ve seen thus far since Arthur Smith took the head-coaching gig with the Atlanta Falcons.
