Report suggests Houston Rockets could target Cam Johnson

Will the Houston Rockets pursue former UNC basketball wing Cam Johnson in free agency?

After Cam Johnson turned down a contract extension with the Phoenix Suns and then was traded to Brooklyn later on,  he’s expected to be a free agent this offseason. And he should have a big market.

Brooklyn has expressed interest in keeping Johnson around as he flashed his potential and helped lead them to the playoffs. But that might be easier said than done.

With Detroit rumored to be showing interest in Johnson, a new report suggests a team that is in a rebuild could look to make him a key piece for the future of their franchise. According to Marc Stein, the Houston Rockets are being linked to a number of players, including Johnson.

The report suggests that Houston will be interested in Johnson, Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez.

Johnson is a restricted free agent which helps the Nets’ pursuit of keeping him as it allows them to match any offer sheet he may receive. And if the interest continues at this pace, he’s going to have plenty of teams in the race to sign him.
